I’m Deborah Hart, a California transplant currently based in Los Angeles, California. As a child, and Navy Brat, my family and I traveled to all corners of the United States. My interest in Photography began in High School. While in High School I was blessed to be mentored by Will Counts, an amazing photographer well known for his documentation of the attempted desegregation of Little Rock, Arkansas’ Central High School in 1957. My education continued at Columbia College in Chicago. I set up shop in Los Angeles around the mid 90’s. Here in L.A. I met another amazing mentor, Dennis Keeley. His passion for the art stirred my interest in music and fine art photography. I feel music is a universal expression of art through sound. My love for photographing musical artists comes from a desire to represent the audio image in a still representation. I believe it’s important to hear one’s music before photographically capturing them. Creating an image which makes a statement about a song is almost as important as the words themselves. I find this collaborative process, between musician and photographer, very exciting and challenging. I strive to provide a palatable and sensual quality to all my images. This web site will change and grow as I will. Please come back and pay a visit to my evolution. Thanks, Deborah Hart |
